RACIAL PRIVACY INITIATIVE

Looks like a landslide in California. No, not Schwarzenegger, who didn't even win a majority of the vote. I'm talking about the Racial Privacy Initiative, which lost by a margin of 2 to 1. I heard a pundit on NPR today talk about a "mandate" for Schwarzenegger, notwithstanding the fact that early returns show that more people voted not to recall the governor than voted for Schwarzenegger. Absentee ballots might change that result, but probably not by much.

If there's any mandate here, it's a mandate for those who think that the government's refusal to collect racial data is a bad idea.
