Precisely because international terrorist groups are a threat that require law enforcement resources, we need to worry about these kinds of stories.

I'd blogged the Buffalo story a couple of times. If I understand it correctly, the "artists" are using chemical and biological agents they cook up in their homes and studios as performance art. While I understand their claims that it is all perfectly harmless, I do understand why they were raided. It is a far from normal activity, and far too close in appearance to actions that would pose a threat to the community. One of the items they were working with was e. Coli, and that is certainly an issue outside a proper biology lab.
