6) What does Cornel West mean when he says that we should "link race to the common good"? What ills does he diagnose in contemporary politics, and what proposals does West advance to address those ills? 15 points
7) Describe and evaluate Anthony Downs's model of democracy as a competition between parties. What, specifically, is the role of imperfect information in his model? What are the results of imperfect information? 10 points
